How it works
The Florafelt Plant Food Injector is a simple, non-mechanical solution for adding liquid concentrates to your irrigation system. It uses the pressure changes from your irrigation cycles to precisely inject fertilizer.
Step 1: Mounting
First, find a secure location to install the injector. Use the provided screws and hardware to attach the wall-mount bottle cage to a wall. This cage holds the pressure bottle in place during operation.
Step 2: Preparing the Fertilizer
Important: Only use water-soluble fertilizers.
Turn the valve on the bottle top adapter to the OFF position.
Unscrew the cap from the pressure bottle.
Add a small amount of water-soluble fertilizer concentrate to the bottle—about a quarter cup is a good starting point.
Fill the bottle with water, leaving a small air gap at the top. A good reference is to fill it to the top of the Florafelt logo, which is about a 3-inch gap. The water will be a dark color at first but will become clear over time as the fertilizer is used.
Make sure the gasket is properly seated in the cap to ensure a tight seal.
Step 3: Connecting to the System
The injector can be connected in two ways:
To a Florafelt timer box
If you have a Florafelt irrigation timer box, you can easily add the injector by removing the T-filter cap and attaching the connector tube.In-line with tubing
Use the additional tee fitting with hose threads to connect the injector directly into your existing 1/2-inch irrigation tubing. This allows you to place the injector at any convenient point along the line.
Step 4: Finalizing the Setup
After connecting the injector to your system, carefully screw the filled bottle onto the adapter.
Tighten the cap to prevent air from leaking out, but be careful not to overtighten it.
Turn the valve on the bottle top adapter back to the ON position.
Run a test cycle on your irrigation system to ensure the cap is fully tightened and there are no leaks.
Best Practices
Use the injector with water-soluble fertilizers only to prevent clogging your emitters.
The system gradually dilutes the concentrate until it's completely dispensed. This provides continuous, even feeding for your plants.
Fertilize plants during their active growth periods (spring and summer) and avoid fertilizing during their dormant stage in the winter.
The injector can also be used for other water-soluble products, such as systemic pesticides, but use them in small, controlled dosages.
For optimal performance, it is recommended to disconnect and clean the filters about once a year.
